About Lamy Pens

Established in 1930 in Heidelberg Germany by Josef Lamy, a former sales rep for Parker Pens, Lamy is a distinctive and contemporary pen brand. The underlying design principle follows the Bauhaus idea that an object’s appearance should be governed by its function. Consequently Lamy pens are highly functional and are used by designers and architects. Innovation is essential to the brand, constantly releasing new styles with a particular function in mind e.g. ergonomic grip, pocket pen. An example is the Lamy 2000 which has a spring loaded clip. Previously all clips relied on the material itself for flexibility, which caused many a broken clip. Lamy installed a small spring inside the clip offering flexibility and strength.
