Every man should own at least one Suit (or dress) Belt and one Jeans Belt. The following criteria distinguish the two types of mens belts.
- Men's suit belts have a narrow width (anything less than 3.2cm is accepted as a formal belt), whilst Jeans belts have a width of at least 3.5 cm
- The buckle on a leather suit belt is classic and uncomplicated (usually a standard rectangular buckle) so that it blends in unnoticed with your formal wear. Mens jeans belts require a bolder buckle to suit the more relaxed style of dress

Do's and Dont's of Men’s Belts
- The general rule of thumb is that the colour of your belt should match your shoes. If you are wearing trainers then the colour of your belt does not matter, although brown leather gives a more relaxed feel.
- Make sure you wear a belt that fits your waist size. You know your belt fits well if you are using the middle notch.
- Never let the tip of your belt hang down. This tends to happen if your belt is too small.
- Most men own only one belt, so make sure that it is versatile. Black leather with a regular silver buckle is a classic look and will go with almost anything.
- Always wear a dress belt with your formal wear, and a jeans belt with your casual wear. Never mix them up.

At Herbert Jones we offer the full range of sizes in men's belts from a small up to an extra-large. Mens Leather Belts have 5 loopholes providing a range of 2 inches. The size ranges are; 31-33 (small), 34-36 (medium), 37-39 (large) and 40-42 (extra large) . In order to find the right belt size for you, add 2 inches to your waist size. For example if you have a 32 inch waist, then choose a 34-36 belt.
